SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A man is fighting for his life after being hit by a tractor-trailer rig on Interstate 20, authorities said.
It happened at 3:36 p.m. Thursday on westbound I-20 in Shreveport.
It appears the man was trying to cross the interstate when he was struck by an 18-wheeler, authorities said.
The man has been taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries authorities said appeared to be life-threatening.
Meantime, the accident is impacting travel on westbound I-20.
The two right-hand lanes were blocked near Jewella Avenue, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development website.
Now, one lane remains closed.
The Shreveport fire and police departments each had seven units on the major accident on westbound I-20 at Hearne Avenue, Caddo 911 dispatch records show.
Westbound motorists can use U.S. Highway 80 to bypass the scene.
