SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Two people and two pets are safe after a fire tore through their home on Thursday morning.
The Shreveport Fire Department got the call just before 2:30 a.m to the 3500 block of Line Avenue regarding a house fire.
The first unit arrived on scene just a minute later. Firefighters saw smoke and flames coming from the right corner of a one-story, wood framed home, according to a news release from SFD.
Both the residents were able to get out of the home safely, and their two pets were rescued and unharmed.
The home was equipped with working smoke detectors, allowing them a safe escape.
It took 17 firefighters 19 minutes to bring the fire under control, according to SFD. The attic and outside of the dwelling were heavily damaged by flames.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No firefighter was harmed in fighting the blaze.
