Authorities identify woman killed in crash in Castor, charge man with DWI

Drunk Driver kills woman in Castor crash

CASTOR, LA (KSLA) - The woman who was killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday night has been identified by the Bienville Parish coroner’s office.

Karen Jackson Caldwell, 47, of Castor, was pronounced dead at the scene on LA 4 at Watson Road after an eastbound 2014 Ford pickup being driven by 23-year-old Dillion Floyd Bazar, of Hall Summit, crossed the center line and struck Caldwell’s westbound 2001 Pontiac passenger car.

Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to the crash just after 9:30 p.m.

According to reports, Bazar suffered minor injuries from the crash, then was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide, DWI, careless operation and open container.

Toxicology samples were taken and will be submitted for analysis.

Authorities would like to remind motorists that avoiding distractions, obeying the posted speed limit, avoiding fatigued driving and not driving while impaired can make a difference between life and death.

This crash is still under investigation.
