CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) - The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office has released a list of road closures due to heavy rains on Thursday afternoon.
Below is the current list of closures that can be found on its Facebook page.
- Barron at Linwood
- Linwood at Southern Loop
- Linwood from Tyre to Desoto Parish line
- Keithville Kingston at Missile Base Road
Cameron Park boat launch and Norris Ferry boat launch are closed and barricaded.
Barricades have been placed at these locations to keep drivers off these roads. Deputies are issuing tickets who move or disregard the barricades or Road Closed signage.
According to The National Weather Service, this was the highest December rainfall since 1884. Caddo Sheriff and Homeland Security Director Steve Prator said that crews are monitoring the conditions day by day, hour by hour.
As of Thursday afternoon, no homes have reported flooding and no evacuations have been issued. However, city and parish departments are preparing a response based on rainfall and how fast it drains.
A news release says that citizens living in South Caddo parish and the Wallace Lake area will likely see the greatest impact.
The flood stage at Cypress Bayou on Wallace Lake is 151 feet, but was at 151.72 this morning. With anticipated rainfall, the lake could rise to near 156 feet by Saturday morning. Cattle and other livestock should be moved to higher ground.
