CARTHAGE, TX (KLTV) - A Carthage man is recovering after being shot in the nose Thursday afternoon.

Officers responded to a report of a possible shooting in the parking lot of Dollar General at 122 Cottage Road around 2 p.m, according to Carthage Police Department Assistant Chief Blake Smith.

Once there, officers found Theodore Yocum of Carthage sitting in a car with a gunshot wound to the nose. Yocum was responsive and able to tell police who shot him and where the suspect lived.

Officers went to the address and arrested William Fred Thompson for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Thompson was taken to the Panola County Detention Center and is being held on $10,000 bail.

Yocum was taken to UT Health Carthage and later airlifted to UT Health in Tyler with non-life threatening injuries.
