BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) - Thousands of residents in Bossier City were without power for several hours early Tuesday morning because a car crashed into a utility pole. Shortly before 6 a.m., police released updated information.
According to Traci Landry, public information officer for the Bossier City Police Department, a single vehicle crashed into a power pole and broke it at around midnight. The crash was reported in the 2500 block of Benton Road, not far from Apollo Elementary School.
Both lanes of Benton Road from Viking to Melrose are closed while crews from SWEPCO work to restore power. One traffic light is still without power, so officers are directing traffic in the area.
At one point, nearly 4,000 residents were without power. More than 900 people are still in the dark as of this article.
Landry said there were no life-threatening injuries due to the crash.
