SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Could you live in a box for an entire week? Well, two radio personalities have been doing just that — but it’s all for a good cause.

Carter and Brandon Michael with K94.5′s Morning Madhouse spent the last week living in a box outside of the Walmart on Airline Drive in Bossier City, to help collect toys for kids in the Shreveport-Bossier City area.

They crew are collecting toys until noon December 10th outside the Walmart on Airline Drive in Bossier City. After that, anyone who still wants to donate toys can drop them at K94.5′s studio at 6341 Westport Avenue in Shreveport.

It’s something they’ve been doing for the last few years as part of their radio station’s annual Jocks in the Box toy drive. This year they have been collecting toys to give to three charities- Operation Santa, Roy’s Kids and the Shriner’s Hospital.

“We know there’s a lot of people that are out at the a-typical hours,” Michael said. “They aren’t working nine to five jobs, they are working overnight, third shifts who maybe they are working two jobs and they can only squeeze in their shopping at these crazy hours. So we’re going to be out here for those crazy hours, all the regular hours and the ones in between.”

Despite the rain, the morning duo has collected hundreds of bikes and toys, and say the best part of doing this is watching children come out and donate.

“It’s when they’ve come out and they have gone and picked out the toys, and it’s a toy that they would want," Carter said. "And instead of keeping it, they’re giving it to another child.”
