MAGNOLIA, AR (KSLA) - Authorities in Columbia County launched an investigation late Tuesday night into the deputy-involved shooting death of a murder suspect, according to a local news website.
KSLA News 12 confirmed the investigation through a source close to the investigation. The source said a Columbia County deputy tried to serve a search warrant related to a recent homicide when shots were fired.
The man was taken to the hospital where he died. The deputy was not hurt. The circumstances of the shooting remain unclear at this time.
The names of the suspect and the officer have not been released.
Arkansas State Police will investigate the deputy-involved shooting and will turn over its findings to the prosecuting attorney, who will then determine if the shooting was justified.
