Mother of burned Natchitoches infant indicted on first degree murder

NATCHITOCHES PARISH, LA (KSLA) - The Natchitoches Parish District Attorney confirms that the mother of a infant found burned has been indicted on a murder charge.

Hanna Nicole Barker, 23 was indicted by a grand jury on first-degree murder, according to Natchitoches DA Billy Joe Harrington.

Barker was taken into police custody. Another woman connected to the incident, Felicia Marie-Nicole Smith, 26, is charged with first-degree murder and a count of criminal conspiracy.

The body of six-month-old Levi Cole Ellerbe was found on July 18 off Breda Avenue after officers got a call about a fire.

The 6-month-old was taken to a Natchitoches hospital in critical condition then flown to a Shreveport hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The expected court date is Dec. 3.
