SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - After 10 months and thousands of miles apart, U.S. Army Reserves 1st Lt. Erica Jones got to hold her daughters close Wednesday morning.
“It’s surreal, very surreal,” she said. “There were days where I just, I didn’t think I’d make it to them, just being so far away from them. Just, you know, being here, it’s definitely a great feeling.”
Jones deployed to Iraq in January with her Army Reserves unit out of Bossier City.
Her daughters were not expecting her home until next month
Jones, her husband, her family and close friend joined her as she surprised both girls at school starting with her 9-year-old at Claiborne Fundamental Elementary Magnet School and her 3-year-old at Hersey D. Wilson Head Start.
