It was a pea soup commute this morning across the Ark-La-Tex with dense fog and near zero visibility in some areas. On top of that, throw in some storms with heavy rain and it could make a bad morning worse. Speaking of storms, they will be forming along and ahead of a sharp cold front that is taking its good old time getting though the Ark-La-Tex. It may clear the area by sunset or shortly thereafter. Heavy rain should be the only problem. Thursday will see at least some sunshine. However, it will probably be the only totally dry day out of the next 7 days. Friday will see a slight chance of rain followed by a weekend with scattered rain and storms both days. We start next week with scattered rain and storms with a small decrease Tuesday and Wednesday.
On the other hand, the temperature trend will be awesome! Highs today will be in the mid to upper 70s along and north of I-30 and in the low to mid 80s along and south of I-20. Thursday is golden with lows in the 50s and 60s followed by highs only in the 70s to maybe 80 degrees. Friday through the weekend will continue to see below normal temps. As we start next week lows will be near 70 with highs in the mid to upper 80s which is above normal for this time of year. So, despite the rainy forecast, we can count our blessings that the drought is about gone and revel in the fact that we can break out the fall clothing. However, don’t put the summer clothes away just yet. But that’s another story.
