SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - One of two men suspected of trying to ambush a Shreveport police officer remains in critical condition, a hospital spokesman said.
Authorities have said that 37-year-old Rodriques Smith was shot at least once.
And the spokesman said the condition of Ladarren Jackson, a 34-year-old who also was shot during the confrontation, now is listed as good.
Both men are being treated at University Health in Shreveport.
The officer-involved shooting occurred just before 11 p.m. Saturday at East 80th at Dillman streets.
That’s when police got reports of two men walking down the street and indiscriminately shooting guns, not targeting anyone or anything in particular.
Investigators think both men split up, brandished their weapons and tried to ambush the responding officer.
The officer first fired at Smith, striking him at least once.
Then Jackson reportedly engaged the officer then ran away.
Jackson later was found with a gunshot wound at a home on 83rd Street.
The officer was not wounded.
