Today's Forecast Image

Make sure to get outside and enjoy the 'cooler' and less humid weather while it lasts. Even though it's not cool outside, temperatures are cooler. Afternoon highs will range from the upper 80s up north to the mid 90s down south, which is near or just below average for this time of year. Wednesday will be very similar to Tuesday. However, the heat and humidity will start to crank back up towards the end of the work week. A heat wave featuring multiple days with temperatures near or just above 100 degrees will be possible late this week through the upcoming weekend.

Even though temperatures will still be above 90 degrees through 7 or 8 p.m., this evening is going to be nice. The lower humidity levels will help take the edge off the heat. No one will need their rain gear this evening. However, pack some extra water and your sunglasses, especially if you plan to spend a lot of time outside.

The overnight will be clear and quiet. Lows will range from the mid 60s to near 70 degrees. Depending on how early you wake up and where you are first thing in the morning, you may need a light jacket.

Temperatures will really jump on Wednesday. There will be about a 20 degree temperature jump from the morning low and the noon time temperature. Afternoon highs will be in the low to mid 90s. Expect a ton of sunshine once again Wednesday afternoon, so keep your sunglasses handy throughout the day.

By the end of the work week, an upper-level ridge will start to expand further east into the ArkLaTex. Highs on Thursday will be in the upper 90s. Highs Friday through Sunday will be near or just above 100 degrees in many locations. With the humidity creeping back into the ArkLaTex, dangerous heat indices will be possible during this time. The start of next week still looks hot, but temperatures should stay below the century mark.

With upper-level ridge over the ArkLaTex, expect little to no rain. Right now, our rain chances look slim at best through the middle of next week. However, stray shower can't be ruled our Saturday through the beginning of next, mainly south of I-20. With more heat and little to no rain, expect drought conditions to worsen across the area.
