LONGVIEW, TX (KSLA) - Investigators say they now have a better idea of what police describe as a likely double-murder suicide in east Texas.
Police in Longview, Texas discovered the 3-bodies at home on Lincoln Drive Saturday morning.
Detectives say it appears 62-year-old Ronald Smart shot and killed his wife Bonnie and son Byron before turning the gun on himself.
Worried neighbors began noticing newspapers piling-up since Thursday, and called police after one of them spotted two bodies on the floor while looking through a window.
Some casually knew the victims as people who had tried help them in the past with storm damage.
He said he was laying down rat poison in his garage when the incident happened. He claims he was checking dresser drawers when he came across a group of copperheads mating.More >>
