SHREVEPORT, LA(KSLA) -  Preparing to bring The Bassmaster Classic to Shreveport-Bossier took years. Now, It's all over and gone but the impact could stick around for years to come.

Bassmaster champion Skeet Reese is not the only one cashing in on a successful weekend.

Shreveport- Bossier saw the largest attendance ever in the 39 years of Bassmaster Classic history.

There were more then 100,000 entries into the Shreveport Convention Center for the Bassmaster Expo. At The Century Tel Center in Bossier City, some people were turned away for the weigh-ins.

"Spectators and attendees were staying as far away as Tyler, Texas, as far south as Alexandria and beyond.  Some were even staying in Jackson, Mississippi, driving over everyday to attend the classic" said Convention Center General Manager Sam Voisin.

Shreveport-Bossier set a goal of $24 million for the three day event. The numbers are still being crunched, but it's much more than that already. It's a weekend spike in the economy that could continue to benefit the area.

"These people are going to come back if they had a great experience like everyone said they did. They will come back and visit on vacation or to fish, " said Voisin.

Shreveport-Bossier had a weekend shot at reeling in one big fish and it caught much, much more.

Now the Convention Center must gear up for another big event coming to the area this weekend. It's a volleyball tournament set to attract thousands more people.
