SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - "I just saw him 2 hours ago getting off the bus." It would be a bus ride that would turn out to be the last time Caddo Middle Magnet 7th grader Jules Sompayrac would see his best friend alive.  "His dad called us saying he was missing... so we came looking for him."

Officials say the 12 year old boy arrived home from school, and went in the backyard to climb some trees.  "The father came home shortly after that and sent the elder child to look for him."  And just before 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, the 12 year old was found. Unconscious and unresponsive after accidentally hanging himself while climbing that tree.

Caddo Parish Sheriff's Spokeswoman Cindy Chadwick says the incident is a tragic and horrible accident. "At this point there's no reason to believe that this was not accidental." First responders from Caddo District Number Five to the scene, and medics rushed the boy to Willis Knighton Pierremont, where they could not revive him.  "The neighbors say the young boy likes to climb trees." Chadwick said.

But Jules Sompayrac  says he couldn't have asked for a better best friend.  "He's a real nice person. He's never done anything bad. He's got a great record in school. He hasn't done anything bad."
