UNDATED (KSLA) - Almost 170,000 SWEPCO customers in the Ark-La-Tex found themselves without power Saturday night after Ike stormed, literally, through the area.
As of 10 pm Saturday night, SWEPCO Spokesperson Kacee Kirschvink said the outages affected 87,000 customers in Texas and 63,000 in Louisiana.
At the time, she said the last remnants of Ike were still causing problems for crews trying to make repairs. She said anytime there are winds in the area near 40 miles per hour, it makes it dangerous for crews to use their bucket trucks.
She said several crews would be out overnight with others coming on in the morning hours after Ike was gone.
