Shreveport, LA (KSLA) -  Hotels are packed with people who have evacuated their homes in South Louisiana and Texas.  They say they are here because they believe it's far enough away, that they won't have to worry about any of the affects of the storm.

Ryan Theriot says he chose Shreveport again, coming here the first time while fleeing Gustav. "It's nice to take a little vacation every once in a while. But losing the money is not to good."  Brenda Eurings from Lake Charles, Louisiana says it's better to be safe than sorry. "Well we came here for Hurricane Gustav and it was nice so we decided to come back."

Sun Furniture on Texas Street spent their day boarding up their windows. Others who live here in Shreveport say for now they are not taking the threats to seriously.

Mary Robertson says, "(I'm) not too concerned about it. I've been through it before so, no big deal right now."

Brian Campbell agrees. "I don't think it'll be as bad as they predict it'll be.

We found others that are heeding the warnings. DeMarcus Carson says, "It's you know, making sure all the windows are fixed. Making sure bills are paid things like that."

Darrell Williams says, "Well yea, I took in the bar-b-cue pit and stuff like that you know. The folding chairs and stuff from out in the yard put it in my shed. But other than that, naw."
