Shreveport, LA (KSLA) - Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal's wife, Supriya, was in Shreveport to bring attention to the growing need at state wide food banks.
The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana is at shortage after supplying food to shelters and other organizations after storms.
September is also Hunger Action month and Sapriya is calling on people in the Northwest Louisiana to donate. "It's the spirit of helping. Neighbors helping neighbors. Families helping families. Communities reaching out to their communities."
Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover stopped by the food bank with a donation of his own. He too is encouraging the spirit of giving. "The cupboards are bare, they need to be refilled we certainly honor and appreciate the leadership of the first lady in helping to take the lead on this and make the rest of the state aware of it."
