SHREVEPORT,  LA (KSLA) - A Friday morning crash kept a major Shreveport street blocked for several hours.

Several police and fire department units are still on the scene at W. 70th Street and Kennedy Drive.

The accident happened just before 9 a. m. Friday at W. 70th Street and Kennedy Drive. The crash between the SUV and a church van sent three people to the hospital.

"Right now, we know that all injuries range from serious to critical," said Fred Sanders, Assistant to the Fire Chief.  "One person was extricated from the vehicle using the jaws of life."

According to Sanders, it was the driver of the SUV who became trapped for a while in the vehicle.

A person who had been inside the church van was found lying on the ground near the wreckage.  Rescuers, at first, thought that person had been ejected.  However, it turns out the man left his vehicle to check on the SUV driver and then collapsed.

Police are still investigating to determine who was at fault.

Another morning crash-- a 3-car pile-up-- had traffic at a crawl on Interstate 49 north.

In fact, the middle lane of traffic, just north of the Kings Highway exit, was shut down for a while.

All three drivers escaped without serious injury.
