SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - For the second time this week, it appears the recent hot weather has taken a toll on an ArkLaTex senior.

The Caddo Parish Coroner, Todd Thoma, M. D., told KSLA News 12 he believes the death of a 74 year old man was heat-related.

The man was found dead Tuesday night in the 3900 block of Lakeshore Drive.  Thom said the temperature inside the home, which had no open windows, was about 90 degrees.

Thoma said no one had seen the man for several days, and by the time his body was discovered, it was too late to make a positive determination on whether he died as a result of the heat.  However, Thoma said all signs point to that as being a contributing factor.

Earlier this week, the death of an elderly woman in Bossier City also was attributed to the heat.

Patsy Ferlito, 75, was found dead by her son in her home in the 3200 block of Jana Place.

Police said she had no air conditioning in her home, and all the windows were closed.
