Woman, child killed after rollover accident on I-30 in Miller County

MILLER COUNTY, AR (KSLA) - A rollover accident on Interstate 30 killed a woman and a child and sent another child to the hospital.

The wreck happened mid-Wednesday morning in the westbound lane I-30 east of Texarkana. Arkansas State Police say a tire on the SUV blew out. The vehicle went out of control and rolled over, landing on its roof.

Police say the woman and two children were heading to Mexico from Illinois on a vacation. The children are believed to be about 12-years-old.

The injured child was taken to a Texarkana hospital with unknown injuries.

Shortly after the accident, police say a person who had stopped on the opposite side of the interstate to help was hit by an 18-wheeler. The truck apparently ran off the road trying to avoid slow-moving traffic and hit the pedestrian. That person's injuries do not appear life-threatening.
