I-20 is Back Open Following a 15 - 18 Car Pile-Up On I-20

Gregg County DPS tells KSLA news 12 that that 15 - 18 vehicles are involved in the accident, with 32 people transported to hospitals for injuries.

Traffic is now back open on Interstate 20 between Kilgore and Longview in Gregg County where the mangled mess first clogged drivers.

The accident occured in the westbound lane between Highway 31 and FM 2087 at mile marker 591, and involved an eighteen-wheeler and 14 - 15 other vehicles. It happened at around 5:30 pm this afternoon.

DPS tells us they believe it started with an 18 wheeler driving too fast in a construction lane. It then lost control. After that a domino effect occured, with vehicle after vehicle slamming into each other. There were multiple ambulances, but no fatalities.

At least nine ambulances took the injured to Longview and Tyler hospitals. Right now, DPS cannot give us an exact number of injured.

KSLA has a crew on the way to the scene. Stay with KSLA News 12 at 10 and KSLA.com for the latest.
