SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Caddo Parish sheriff's investigators have released the identities of the victims of a wreck that shut down part of Interstate 20 near the Louisiana-Texas state line all night long.
The driver of the pickup truck who was killed has been identified as Lanny Franks, 49, of West Monroe.
His passenger, Steven Franks, 24, also of West Monroe; and the driver of the 18 wheeler that hit them, Daniel Richmond, 47, of Missouri, were treated at LSU hospital and released.
Sheriff's investigators say a Ford Focus traveling west on I-20 near Greenwood just before 7 p. m. Thursday veered into another lane, right in the path of Richmond's big rig.
The 18 wheeler then went out of control and crossed the highway, where it collided with the eastbound pickup truck carrying the Frankses.
The tractor trailer was carrying a load of grape juice concentrate which spilled across the highway, creating a sticky mess. It took most of the night for road crews to clean it up.
In the meantime, eastbound drivers had to exit the interstate in Waskom to get around the crash site.
Sheriff's deputies reopened the road around 3 a. m. Friday.
