SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A man riding bicycles with his son had a close call on a Shreveport street after police say he was hit by a car.

The accident happened Thursday afternoon at the corner of Joplin and Corbitt Streets. Fifty-one-year-old Daniel Elliot and his son John were crossing the street when the car hit the rear wheel of Daniel's bicycle.

"He thought he had enough time to make it across the street and we didn't but he thought that we did, so he ended up getting hit," said John. "They drove him a few blocks down the street. Thank God he survived, though."

The driver says he never saw the man on the bicycle until he hit his windshield.

Daniel Elliot went to the hospital with cuts from all the broken glass.

His son says the car didn't appear to be speeding.

Police are calling it an accident.
