Attempted robbery turns to car chase for Natchitoches Police

NATCHITOCHES, LA (KSLA) - Natchitoches Police arrested two men Tuesday after an attempted robbery that led to a car chase down I-49.

Police responded to the Hallmark store at the Dixie Plaza Shopping Center about an unknown man in the office rummaging through the filing cabinets. Police arrived and detained 54-year-old Joe Roy Watson of Alexandria.

Police then learned that Watson had an accomplice waiting in a car in the parking lot. Police say when they approached the car, the driver sped off.

The chase went from the parking lot to LA Hwy. 6, then onto I-49. The driver, Nathaniel Curry III of Alexandria, eventually stopped near the Waterwell Road exit and was arrested.

Police later learned the car was stolen from a dealership in Alexandria.

Watson was charged with Illegal possession of stolen things and Attempted Theft. Curry was charged with Illegal possession of stolen things, Aggravated flight from an officer, Reckless Operation of a motor vehicle, and numerous traffic violations.
