SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A Caddo District Judge ruled that the trial of a Shreveport teenager charged with raping an elderly woman can move forward.

Judge John Mosley ruled that 17-year-old Calvin Breakfield was competent to stand trial. He's charged with the aggravated rape of an 81-year-old woman.

Mosely's decision came after a sanity hearing from the state's only witness, Dr. Charles Armistead.

Breakfield was just 16-years-old when police say he raped, robbed and beat the woman in her Corbitt Street home in May of last year. He was charged as an adult.

His trial date is set for November 3rd.
