SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A Shreveport woman sits in jail accused of trying to kill her husband's pregnant mistress by running the woman down with her SUV.
Police say Emma Taylor -- a woman who faces an attempted second degree murder charge -- lives at a home in Shreveport's Ledbetter Height's neighborhood.
Taylor's daughter, Deanna Campbell, did not want to talk on camera, but says she does not believe her mother is guilty of attempted second-degree murder. Campbell hopes to get her mother out of jail soon.
Neighbor Jeshea Gay says Taylor tried to kill 24-year-old Crystal Sanchez, who Gay claims is a prostitute, after Taylor found her husband having an affair with Sanchez in the home.
Shreveport Police say Sanchez is five months pregnant.
"He didn't have any business bringing that thing in that woman's house and that's his wife and they're married," said Gay.
Neighbors say Sanchez ran out of the home and down Fulton Street, going behind a barber shop. They say Sanchez made it onto Midway Ave., where Taylor hit Sanchez with her car, then got out and tried to beat her up.
"If I were in her shoes I would have probably done the same thing," said Gay. "Only difference is she probably wouldn't have made it."
Others in the neighborhood feel Taylor went about it all wrong. "I would have taken it out on him instead of her," said neighbor Sheba Gay.
Police said Sanchez declined medical attention from fire fighters.
