Shreveport to host first ever Green Expo

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - It's a first not only for the city of Shreveport, but also for this region of the country.

On Tuesday, it was announced the Shreveport Convention Center will host the area's first ever Green Expo.

The event is scheduled for August 22nd through the 24th. It will feature products and hands-on programs designed to find ways area businesses can save money, while better utilizing natural resources.

"We decided to get together and get everyone in one place. So if somebody can come in and looking to, as far as a garden, maybe you want to do something with a garden, with using rainwater. We've got rainwater capturing systems and so forth available. These are things that, we, as a kid, we used to have them, and now they're coming back," said Everything Green Expo Spokesperson David Mitchell.

The Everything Green Expo is being made possible by AEP SWEPCO, Center Point Energy and Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell.
