HAUGHTON, LA (KSLA) - An ArkLaTex man has lost his livelihood-but not his life-in a wreck that involved his truck running off a bridge in Haughton Friday morning.
Bruce Crank told KSLA News 12 he believes the truck blew a tire and that's what caused his rig to go out of control on a bridge along Highway 80. It smashed through a cement and metal guard rail and plunged into a bayou below.
Crank was able to climb out of the wreckage and through the truck's smashed windshield. He suffered only a minor gash on his head.
"The motor is laying under the bridge," he said. "I thought, 'How am I going to pay for this?'."
Crank said he's self employed, the operator of a Bayou Septic Tank. The truck was his only company vehicle.
"I just hope I don't go bankrupt while I get that fixed," he said, pointing to the wreckage. "My wife is going to have a heart attack!"
He said while money is a concern, he's grateful he wasn't seriously hurt.
