Suspected robber who committed suicide in Longview tied to Shreveport crimes

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Shreveport police have connected three recent robbery cases to a suspect in east Texas who killed himself over the weekend during a standoff with police at Longview hotel.

Police believe Nacogdoches native David Cody Stewart is the same man who robbed two Circle K stores in June. They say the robberies in Shreveport and east Texas were very similar, as well as clothing descriptions and physical features.

They also think he is connected to an armed robbery at the Regency Hotel on Monkhouse Dr. in Shreveport back on June 13th.

Longview police say an autopsy will be performed on the 29-year-old Stewart. Longview police believe he is responsible for several motel robberies in the city.

Saturday night, an officer saw a vehicle matching the description of the robber enter the Ramada Inn parking lot. Stewart fled, and the officer then heard one shot and found him dead near the vehicle. They say Stewart was wearing the same clothing as described to officers in other robberies.
