Two Workers Rescued Out of Vivian Water Tower

VIVIAN, LA (KSLA) - There were a few tense moments for Paul Childers, 47 of Mississippi and Frederick Griffin, 39 of Tennesse after fire fighters say both men passed out while doing work inside of the Vivian, LA water tower Thursday afternoon.

Vivian Police helped keep on lookers at bay near the scene which was at the corner of Camp Road and South Pecan near the center of town.

Specially trained Shreveport firefighters joined Caddo firefighters in the rescue. The scaffolding that was set up to help rescue the victims began to stick as well high winds also made it dangers to bring the two men down but thankfully they were well enough to climb down on their own.

The two workers had been sandblasting and painting the inside of the water tank which is empty when they were overcome by fumes. Somehow rescuers got oxygen to the workers and they regained consciousness. The men were able to get right back to work.

OSHA will be investigating.
