MT. PLEASANT, TX (KSLA) - A wreck in east Texas has left two people dead.

It happened in Mount Pleasant around 7:30 Thursday morning along a stretch of Interstate 30 and Farm to Market Road 1402.

Police say an 18-wheeler hauling auto parts swerved off the road, with the driver never applying the brakes. The rig caught fire after bouncing off a railing and hitting the bridge.

Both the driver and a passenger were killed.
Now bridge traffic over 1442 is being rerouted and the bridge is expected to be down at least three weeks due to the damage.
