A Miller County man wanted on kidnapping charges is back in Texarkana.
John Robert Kelly was arrested Sunday night in Irving, Texas and brought back to Texarkana Tuesday. He's charged with 1st Degree Battery and Kidnapping.
Authorities say last Friday, Kelly picked up a 38-year-old woman on 7th Street and offered her a ride home. The victim told police Kelly then suggested they go fishing at a pond Kelly knew about, and the victim agreed.
Police say while at the pond, the woman was beaten, had her arms tied behind her back, then was thrown into the pond. The victim left the pond after Kelly was gone. She walked toward I-549 where she was eventually found.
The victim remains in stable condition in ICU at Wadley Regional Medical Center.
The victim said she had not met Kelly before.
