Shreveport Police Searching for Would-Be Robber

Shreveport police are looking for a man who pulled off a desperate crime:  They say he pointed a gun at a convenience store clerk while trying to steal beer.
Dispatchers received a 911 call around 5:40 a. m. Tuesday from the clerk at the Circle K store in the 300 block of West 70th Street.
The store employee said noticed a man who was trying to steal two cases of beer.  The clerk told police when the man dropped on can from the case, he confronted him.  At that point, he said the would-be robber pointed a gun at him, told him to back off and then left the store without the beer.
Police arrived at the store minutes later and searched the area.  They say they have only a general description of the suspect, seen leaving the scene in a green Oldsmobile Delta 88.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Shreveport police at (318) 673-7300, or Crimestoppers at (318) 673-7373.
