Shreveport Seafood Business Damaged By Morning Fire

An early morning fire threatened a stripmall and cut off traffic to a busy Shreveport street.

Just after six o' clock Monday morning, a fire broke out at LA Seafood just east of Southern on 70th Street.

Fire crews worked through the dawn hour to tame the fire and smoke that damaged the seafood market and threatened the adjoining businesses.

The owner of LA Seafood says that the store was his whole life.

"You spend your life trying to invest for a better way of living. This is my investment, everything we had is there," said Owner Chris Epperson.

Fire investigators say the cause of the fire was an overloaded power strip in the business area of the market.
