The history behind Johnson's Furniture

Ruby Johnson's dream in 1963 was to own a furniture store. Ruby and her son Richard (then 20yrs old) had $80 and several pieces of old furniture that began their vision and made the dream a reality. R&R Furniture was started in a small shotgun house in late September of 1963. This was the Beginning of one of the largest furniture store in the Ark-La-Tex.

A.H. "Hobby" Johnson pitched in by loaning the family his truck for deliveries. Hobby who had been in the construction business, helped with additions to the building in 1965 and again in 1967; he later became a full time partner in the business.

In the early 70's the business was prospering and the decision was made to purchase the present site. The new building was completed ion 1975 and contained 22,500 square feet in its showroom and warehouse.

In the late 80's the third generation joined the business Howard and Chris to keep the family tradition. The business is continuing to grow and now has a showroom of 42,000 feet full of quality furniture.

Much has changed in Johnson's Furniture story but honesty and giving the customer a fair price will never change.
