A man who was allegedly on the run from Shreveport police may be wishing he hadn't stopped for a bite to eat. That's how police caught up with Shontravious "Scooter" Rogers early Wednesday morning.
Police believe Rogers is the same man who ran away during an attempted traffic stop on Hilry Huckaby Drive last October. During that incident, police impounded the vehicle and, after searching it, said they found a handgun inside.
Just before midnight Wednesday, an officer patrolling along North Market Street spotted that same vehicle at the drive-thru window of a McDonald's restaurant. He called for help and, with other officers, surrounded the car. They say the driver, later identified as Rogers, tried to run away. However, officers stopped him by shooting him with a tazer gun. Paramedics checked out Rogers at the scene and took him to LSU Hospital as a precaution.
Police say Rogers has a criminal history that includes a second degree battery conviction. He was on probation at the time of the first attempted traffic stop.
He now faces a number of charges including being a felon in possession of a firearm.
