A house fire in Nash, TX, early Thursday has left a toddler dead and a man suffering from burns.
Firefighters responded to the scene in the 100 block of Greenforest Trail just before 4 a.m. and found a home engulfed in flames.
Several people who had been sleeping inside when it broke out escaped unhurt. However, a girl, who neighbors say was either 2 or 3 years old, did not make it out alive. A man, believed to be her stepfather, also suffered burns.
The fire also spread to the home next door, causing minor damage. The people who live there all got out safely after another neighbor alerted them to the fire.
Firefighters at the scene did not release any information, including the cause of the fire. Instead, they said the department will hold a news conference at 1 p. m.
