An East Texas man is behind bars for a pipe bomb incident. The former Stephen F. Austin State University student and Iraq veteran is starting a two and a half year federal prison sentence. Sargent Paul Miles, of Hallsville, was first taken into custody last year for destroying a statue of the Virgin Mary with a pipe bomb. Since then he's been in county holding facilities. His family and defense attorney claim the county jail denied their son medication and treatment for mental illness which he acquired while in iraq. The judge suggested a Missouri federal prison known for the care it provides mentally ill inmates.
