Man Shot During Dispute Outside Shreveport Casino

A shooting outside a Shreveport casino has left a 33 year old man fighting for his life.

Shreveport police say Christopher Poole was walking through the parking structure at Sam's Town Casino early Thursday morning when he got involved in some sort of altercation. Witnesses told police they heard a single gunshot before finding Hicks lying on the ground.

Police first became involved in the investigation around 4:30 a. m. when they were notified that the shooting victim had been brought into Christus Schumpert St. Elizabeth Hospital by way of a private vehicle.  Because of the severity of his injuries, police said, he was immediately transferred to LSU Health Sciences Center by ambulance and whisked into surgery.

A detective outside LSU hospital told KSLA News 12 he was not able to gather much information from Poole before he went into the operating room.  However, he said he planned to continue interviewing witnesses with the hope of finding out more about the case.

Police say Poole was wounded in the upper body and his injury is considered life-threatening.
