GM Begins Benefits Procedure For Union Workers

Local United Auto Workers Union 2166 is getting the message out to its members that they need to sign up for strike benefits and health care coverage later this week.
The union says it's mandatory for all striking members to come and sign up or else they could lose out on the union benefits.
For members whose last name begins with A through M, they need to be at the union hall between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm on Thursday. For members whose last name begins with N through Z, they need to be at the union hall between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm on Friday.
Union members must have the following with them to get the benefits: An ID, social security number, senority date, date of birth and dependent's date of birth.
On Monday more than 2,000 workers at Shreveport's GM Truck Assembly Plant walked off the job as part of a company-wide strike against the auto maker. Talks between the UAW and GM have continued throughout the strike.
