Rider Injured in Fall from Horse at LA Downs

Bossier City firefighters and paramedics were called to the racetrack at Harrah's Louisiana Downs shortly before 10 a. m. Wednesday to treat someone who had been thrown from a horse.

When a KSLA crew arrived, an ambulance was leaving the property with its lights and sirens operating.

According to Jessica Herrington, a spokesperson for the Downs, the injured person was a woman who was exercising the horse.  For some reason, the animal threw her from its back.

Herrington said she was not able to find out the name of the woman right away.  However, she said the rider suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

She was taken to Willis Knighton-Bossier Hospital for treatment of what may be a broken rib, Herrington said.
