2 Dead In Natchitoches Crash; 1 In Critical Condition

Authorities have identified a thirteen year old girl, and her seventeen year old cousin who were killed this afternoon when the girl's father crashed into the back of an eighteen wheeler in Natchitoches.

The crash was reported at 2:10pm, in front the Raceway gas station on Highway 6, near its intersection with I-49.

The dead are identified thirteen-year old Hannah Moran of Natchitoches, and seventeen-year old Adam Mitchell of Robeline.

Moran's father, thirty-three year old Jason Moran was air lifted to LSU hospital in critical condition.

Authorities say the thirteen year old Moran was pinned in the vehicle after the accident, while her seventeen year old cousin was ejected.

Beverly Young witnessed the crash.  "It was horrible.  We ran over there to try and get her and she was screaming, 'three was in there.'  It was the worst thing I've ever seen," says Young.

Eyewitnesses told police the elder Moran was driving a pickup eastbound, at a high rate of speed, when he crashed into the back rear of a big rig that transports cars.

Authorities say the big rig's driver had parked on the shoulder of Highway 6 to make a pit stop at a convenient store.  When he returned to his vehicle, police say he was trying to make a legal u-turn, heading towards I-49, when he was hit from behind by Moran.

The driver of the eighteen wheeler is from Florida.  Police did not charge him.
