Michael G. Futrell, M.D. has been practicing cardiology since 1978.  He joined Cardiovascular Consultants in April 1996 through the merger of his practice, The Cardiology Clinic, with Cardiovascular Consultants.

Dr. Futrell was the originator of the cardiology program at Willis Knighton Medical Center and has remained the Chief of Cardiology since the program's inception in 1979.  Under his leadership, the program has grown to be the preeminent cardiology program in the region with over 3,000 cardiac procedure performed annually.  Dr. Futrell has served many years on the Executive Committee at Willis Knighton Medical Center and as Chief of Medical Staff in 1990-1991.

An Arkansas native, Dr. Futrell attended medical school at the University of Arkansas School of Medicine in Little Rock, completed his internship, residency, and fellowship in Cardiology at the University of Arkansas.  He is board certified by both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the Cardiovascular Subspecialty Board in cardiology and interventional cardiology.  Dr. Futrell is a Fellow of American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions.  He has served as the 2007 Councilor for the northwest region of the Louisiana Chapter of the American College of Cardiology.
