Shreveport GM Plant could soon produce new vehicle

A new vehicle could soon be coming to Shreveport.

General Motors is considering a plan to invest about $70 million into its plant in Shreveport to produce the new vehicle.

The biggest hurdle right now is eliminating the Caddo Parish sales and use taxes for purchases of manufacturing equipment.

GM wants this done by January 1st of 2007.

The Caddo Parish Commission approved the measure in November of 2006, but the Caddo Parish School Board is set to hear a presentation on the request.
