City Law Enforcement

4. Do you believe the Shreveport Police Department is large enough and adequately funded to provide for the public's safety?  If not, how would you enlarge it given the city's tight financial situation?

Arlena Acree
We now have 535 police officers 20 of those officers were just hiredthis year.  We need to budget to keep those approximate numbers to allow for retirement and attrition.  Baton Rouge as a comparison has 700 police officers. We must continue to budget funding needed and continue to seek state and federal grants to help fund equipment and programming.
