Lineman Rodeo

Linemen, who risk their lives daily climbing poles connecting and restoring electricity, will compete in the World Championship Lineman’s Rodeo (WCLR), April 21-22, at the Louisiana Boardwalk.
This unique event will attract men and women from across the country competing for the coveted Top Performance Position Award. To win this, linemen must demonstrate agility, courage, speed, and desire to be the best electrical lineman.
The competition will take place at the south end of the Louisiana Boardwalk next to Saddle Ridge and King Pinz, across from the carousel. Friday events will start at 1 p.m. with safety and skills demonstrations. There will be a band and a beauty contest at 8:30 p.m. The winner will receive more than $1,000 in cash and prizes. Forms and details can be picked up at King Pinz or Saddle Ridge.
Also, there will be a WCLR Mechanical Bull Riding Championship with more than $700 in cash and prizes for the winner.
Saturday, the rodeo competition and other events will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be concessions and events for the entire family. The Saturday night awards banquet will be held at Festival Plaza in conjunction with Holiday In Dixie.

“We hope everyone comes out and sees this one-of-a-kind event that will take place at the Louisiana Boardwalk,” said Chris Lee, WCLR organizer. “The support of these men and women who dedicate their lives to serving the community is very important. These are the individuals who make sure light is brought into your lives no matter what storms or disasters may occur.”
