SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A 12-year-old bicyclist is fighting for his life after being hit by a car at a residential intersection.
Shreveport police were called to the 2500 block of Devaughn Street just after 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
There they found the boy with what appeared to be life-threatening injuries.
Investigators think the collision occurred a couple blocks south of there.
The car was traveling east on Woodford Street and the boy was riding a bicycle south on Portland Avenue, authorities said.
Investigators think the youth failed to stop at a stop sign and rode into the car's path.
The boy, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken by ambulance to a Shreveport hospital for treatment of what appeared to be life-threatening injuries.
Authorities said the bicycle was not equipped with lights.
And investigators do not think the car's driver was under the influence.
