SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Two women were killed and two others were injured in a crash on Interstate 49 late Thursday night, according to Shreveport police.

Corporal Angie Willhite told KSLA News 12 that the driver of an SUV was traveling north in the southbound lane of I-49 between the King and Hollywood exits just after 11:30 p.m.

The vehicle collided with a pickup truck. An off-duty Shreveport police officer then struck the truck.

The driver and passenger of the SUV both died in the crash. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Willhite said he is now listed in critical condition.

The Shreveport police officer suffered minor injuries and was just getting off a shift in which he worked to find a missing 6-year-old child.

The crash is under investigation. No names have been released.
